ESOL Pre-Entry
English For Beginners – Simple And Easy Pre-Entry Content.
Start learning English with ESOL Pre-Entry
ESOL Pre-Entry is a friendly starting point for adults who are beginning to learn English. The free activities use clear pictures, short instructions and everyday topics, so learners can build confidence at a comfortable pace. You can practise independently, study with a family member or use the resources in an ESOL class.
Choose Watch & Learn for short videos that introduce useful words and phrases. Use Listen & Practise to hear simple English and improve understanding. Read & Write supports early literacy skills, while the picture Flashcards help you remember new vocabulary. The Conversation Cards provide practical speaking prompts for situations at home, at school and at work.
How to use ESOL Pre-Entry English resources
Start with one activity and repeat it until the language feels familiar. Say new words aloud, pause videos when you need more time and return to the same activity on another day. Regular, short practice is often more helpful than trying to complete everything at once.
All five learning areas are linked below. Select an image or its matching title to continue in the same browser tab. Every section is designed to make beginner English practice simple, useful and easy to revisit on a phone, tablet or computer. Teachers and support workers can also use the activities to introduce vocabulary, model pronunciation and encourage short conversations. Learners do not need to complete the sections in order: choose the resource that matches today’s learning goal, then return whenever more practice is needed. For extra short video practice, visit the ESOLish YouTube channel.
